Plain-English robot vacuum research, so you don't overpay
BotVac Lab exists to answer one question honestly: which robot vacuum actually fits your home, your floors, and your budget?
Why we built BotVac Lab
Robot vacuums have gotten genuinely good — but the market is a maze. Roborock, eufy, iRobot, Ecovacs, Dreame and Shark each split into near-identical tiers, suction numbers climb every season, and dock features blur together. We started BotVac Lab to cut through that noise with research you can act on, written in plain English.
How we research
BotVac Lab is an editorial research publication, not a testing lab. We do not buy, operate, or benchmark the products we write about. Instead, every recommendation is built from sources you could check yourself:
- Manufacturer spec sheets — listed suction, dock capabilities, mapping hardware, and mop systems, framed as manufacturer-listed rather than measured.
- Aggregated owner reviews — recurring themes that buyers report across retailer pages and forums, summarized rather than quoted.
- Published reviews from established outlets — where independent labs have measured performance, we reference the consensus.
Where we give an opinion, we say so — and we hedge anything we can't verify. You won't see fabricated star ratings, invented test scores, or exact numbers presented as our own findings.
How we stay independent
BotVac Lab is reader-supported. Some links on our site are affiliate links — including Amazon links — and we may earn a commission when you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Those commissions fund our research. They never decide our rankings. We recommend what we'd tell a friend to buy, full stop. See our full affiliate disclosure for details.
A note on trademarks
